CT colonoscopy is a non-invasive alternative to conventional colonoscopy, whereby the colon can be examined by computer generated graphics that will accurately show significant polyps and tumours. Then only if an abnormality is discovered will a patient need to undergo conventional colonoscopy for biopsy or removal of the lesion. This technology will reduce the need for traditional colonoscopy in the initial screening of the colon.
